The 2nd UN Food Systems Summit Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+4) took place from July 27–29, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, co-hosted by the governments of Ethiopia and Italy. After four years since the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS), UNFSS+4 served as a key platform to assess progress, foster stronger collaboration, and mobilize financing and investments to drive the transformation of global food systems.

About the Agroecology Coalition

The Agroecology Coalition was established in the context of the 2021 Summit to provide a collaborative mechanism for countries and organizations committed to transforming food systems through agroecology. The Coalition supports its members through collective action and capacity building, empowering them to implement agroecological principles across all levels.

In 2023, the Coalition actively participated in the UNFSS+2 Stocktaking Moment, where it co-organized a side event on agroecology, soil health, and nutritious diets. The Coalition was also represented in the Leadership Dialogue titled “How do coalitions support governments?”, with Switzerland speaking on its behalf.

The Coalition at UNFSS+4

At UNFSS+4 in Addis Ababa, the Agroecology Coalition continued to champion agroecology as a central pathway for food systems transformation. These events showcased examples of leveraging agroecology for sustainable food systems and tackle various topics such as country experiences, multistakeholder approaches, the role of producers in decision- making, the role of soil health and agroecology in food systems transformation.
