The Plan for Accelerated Solution (PAS) TERRA – Together for the Expansion of Resilient and Restorative Agroforestry and Agroecology – was officially launched at COP30 during a dedicated side event on 19 November.

With family farmers, Indigenous Peoples, and traditional and local communities as central actors—and with women and youth at its core—TERRA seeks to scale up agroecology and agroforestry (AE/AF) systems to restore biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience and mitigation, enhance food and nutrition security, and support decent rural livelihoods.

Drawing on innovative experiences from Africa, Asia, and the Americas—including India’s Andhra Pradesh Community Natural Farming program, Brazil’s SAF Dendê model developed by the CAMTA cooperative, and additional cases across Sub-Saharan Africa—TERRA brings together a set of key levers that function as integrated enablers of adaptation and mitigation:

  • Farmer organizations and their networks
  • Capacity-building and co-innovation
  • Blended finance
  • Seeds, bioinputs, and technology
  • Value addition and market access

TERRA is aligned with the three Rio Conventions, the COP30 Belém Declaration on Hunger, Poverty, and People-Centered Climate Action, and the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.

Co-Founders
TERRA is co-founded by the Agroecology Coalition; Brazil’s Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming (MDA); FAO’s Forest and Farm Facility (FFF); NOW Partners Foundation; the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD); and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT.
